2023-08-02[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”17239″ img_size=”Large” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text][21st July, 2023, Hong Kong] The Pathways Foundation is most grateful to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries of the “Operation Santa Claus” (OSC) Campaign 2022 in support of our three-year project “OSC Short Intervention Course for Students with Dyslexia from Low-Income Families” (“OSC Short Course”).
In the three-year project, we will provide fully-subsidised short intervention courses every Easter and Summer holidays for primary school students from low-income families with reading and writing disabilities. We aimed to benefit at least 240 primary school students in the three-year project. The first “OSC Short Course” was launched on 18th July, 2023, and a total of 40 students benefitted.
Ms Lucille Wong, Executive Director of the Pathways Foundation is grateful for the support from OSC, “Students with dyslexia encounter much challenges in their learning process, especially those from low-income families, who cannot afford to seek external help. The support of ‘Operation Santa Claus’ will allow students from low-income families with dyslexia to receive timely and appropriate support. We will collaborate with different schools aiming to reach out to the students in need from different districts.”
Other than supporting our “OSC Short Intervention Course” project, OSC has also helped us in our advocacy. We were interviewed by SCMP and RTHK in October and November 2022 respectively to raise public awareness on the challenges faced by the children with dyslexia. We were also being invited by one of their long-term supporter, the Shung Tak Catholic English College’s students to deliver a talk on dyslexia at their school morning assembly last December. The OSC also arranged a visit to the “Fire and Ambulance Services Academy” on 17th December, 2022 for our parents and students.
We would like to once again express our heartiest appreciation to OSC for their generosity and kindness in support of children with dyslexia from low-income families.
